Mary Hanney Secondary School
Mary Hanney Secondary School, Oron as an educational institution has an interesting and humble beginning from 1909 when it started as primary school at James Town (Ibaka, in the present Mbo Local Government, Akwa Ibom State.
This institution metamorphosed into women training school when it moved to her present site in Eyo Abasi in 1939. It later change to a modern School in the fifties, and eventually to a secondary school in 1961. This great school has grown as a small mustard seed to become one of the oldest girls’ schools in the east of the Niger.
It has nurtured and produced great women in all fields of endeavour – Professors, Medical Doctors, Accountants Lawyers, Administrators, Managers/CEOs, Architects, Engineers, Bankers, Directors any other professionals.
